Milestones and {Beautiful} Messes

My three year old is crawling! Yes, that's correct -- she's crawling! Never in a million years did I think those would be words I'd be overjoyed to say, since a three year old should be walking, not crawling.

Not my three year old. And I wouldn't have it any other way.

Poor muscle tone is a hard thing to overcome. Especially when a lot of your body is low tone, but your limbs have high tone. This is what Landree has struggled with her whole life. Can you imagine what this must feel like? Defeating. That's the word that comes to mind when I try to imagine it for myself.

Recently, she's managed to coordinate those arms, legs and whip that muscle tone into shape, just enough to inventively (a Landree-ish way) of crawling. But it's still crawling, folks.

I marvel at her. I watch her as she prepares to move, because unlike you and me, it takes some thought and mental preparation to do so. It's pretty incredible to watch her coordinate herself and put it altogether.

If you know Landree on a personal level, you know that she has a bit of a TV addiction. In fact, we have to turn the TV off to get her to listen, a lot of the time. I was a little concerned this would be an ongoing problem. You know, having a kid with a TV addiction and knowing how to fix it. But since she's learned that she can get around, TV really isn't such a big deal to her. She much prefers to crawl and scoot to the toy baskets in the living room and proceed to pull out ALL of the toys from them. Know what that makes? A big mess. Know what I gladly welcome and long to see in my living room now?

A big mess.

Good job, LC. You continue to make your way all over the house and pull out whatever you want. As long as your motivated, I'll gladly follow behind and pick up after you. God is growing your story and your heart to share it. May all the glory go to Him.

Proud of you and your messes, kiddo. Here's to many more.
